The Northeast Fair opens on Tuesday, June 24 and continues through Sunday, June 29.
New Interstate 81 Highway Access Coming to Northeast Fair:
Here is something very important you should know about the Northeast Fair. In the very near future the Northeast Fair will become one of the most accessible fairs in America. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will soon begin construction on a new Interstate 81 interchange for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and the Grimes Industrial Park, together with constructing a new access road connecting the entrance of the airport to the industrial park. The new interchange and the airport access road will both exit within several hundred feet of the Northeast Fair entrance. This project is fully funded by the Pennsylvania Legislature. It will happen. Construction may begin as soon as late this year or early next year. The project will take two years to complete.
New Pennsylvania Turnpike Access now in Design Stage:
An additional interchange from Interstate 476 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) is now in the design stage. It is proposed to exit within several hundred feet of the Northeast Fair entrance and connect with the new Interstate 81 interchange and the new airport access road. While the turnpike project is in the design stage, there is a very strong possibility that it may also become a reality in the very near future.
